London – A Week To Remember

An organization is celebrating Black History Month through rhythm and sound.

The NAACP hosted "Drumming Unity Day" Saturday afternoon, with musicians and dancers from the Central Ohio Drum Collective. Organizer Martha Mitchell said once she heard the group play, she couldn't resist inviting them to our area.

"I heard this group and I thought they were very inspirational and I wanted to bring something like this to Zanesville, especially for our youth. They do a fantastic job and they get the whole public involved, and we wanted to do something for Black History," said Mitchell.

The drummers played traditional african and multi-cultural songs, and some audience members even got the chance to participate.

"They got young people, old people, everybody up on the floor...And anytime you get teachers, who are older, up dancing, that's inspirational."

The event supports the Gant House Foundation, as well as the Women's Democratic Club.
